Yes, it’s THAT time of the year…when every evening seems to have some sort of activity. Sorry for the delay on this update (It was not the time for my computer and wifi router to go on the fritz simultaneously!!), but this week is the Fillmore Arts Center OPEN HOUSE week for morning students (the young ones), so feel free to drop in the rest of the week (Wednesday-Friday) whether it is when your child comes or not. You can see what projects your children are working on in terms of their arts learning for this part of the school year.
NOTE: All afternoon students will have a sharing performance in January during school time.
Also, MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Monday, December 15th from 7-8 pm in the Fillmore/Hardy Auditorium. This concert is for Band, String, and Guitar students and will have a festive touch for the season.
And if it makes you feel better…here’s what was happening about five years ago in the DC area — from the Dec. 20th, 2009 Washington Post:
The total measured snowfall at Reagan Airport at 8:58 p.m. was 16.3 inches, but it was as high as 23 inches elsewhere in the region. That would be more snow in a 24-hour period than the region typically gets in an entire winter.
Yes, we have a new Board Chair for the Friends of Fillmore Arts Center. At just one year in as a school rep on the Friends of Fillmore Board, Stoddert parent and Emcee EXTRAORDINAIRE from our 40th Anniversary Celebration, Mr. John Claud has taken the reins for the coming calendar year and second half of the 2014/15 school year. Many thanks to him for taking over. Outgoing Board Chair, Kelly Richmond, oversaw the 40th Anniversary Celebration in September as her farewell effort.
Thanks to all our fabulous volunteers who work on the Board, help with events, and go that extra mile to promote, share, and support the efforts of the Friends of Fillmore!
